Sacred India - with Hafizullah Chishti & Friends

February 1st - February 15th, 2012

Nizamuddin

Pilgrimage is a traditional practice in many cultures and spiritual paths. Travel with a sacred intention has a deep, catalyzing effect on our personal growth and on smoothing the way towards fulfilling our life's purpose.

Traditionally, Sufis and others visit sacred sites such as the tombs and retreat caves of saints. These places have a potent alchemical magnetism that has to be experienced to be believed. The Òpartition between the worldsÓ is much thinner; deep meditation is easy, and the atmosphere of blessing in them can have a permanently transformative and healing effect on one's consciousness, opening the subtle centers and freeing us of accumulated mental and emotional dross.

New Delhi

cupolaWe'll start in New Delhi, paying our respects at the tombs of Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan, Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya, Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki, and others masters in the Chishti Lineage. We will arrive in Delhi in time for Inayat Khan's Urs celebration, which includes some world-class music and Sufis from all over India and the world.

Agra & Fatehpur Sikri

We'll visit Agra, site of the wondrous Taj Mahal, and Fatehpur Sikri, the palace of Emperor Akbar, both built on principles of sacred architecture. Also at Fatehpur Sikri is the shrine of Salim Chishti, the enormously powerful tomb of an unknown dervish, and some fabulous shopping.

Ajmer

From Agra we will travel to Ajmer, the seat of the Chishti Order. Here is the shrine and retreat cave of Khwaja MuÔinuddin Chishti and the retreat cave of Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki. These retreat cells carry a most potent vibration from the intense practices done there centuries ago. We will visit the dargahs of the Gudri-Shah Babas and have suhbat with Hazrat Inam Hasan, Gudri Shah Baba V. He is also the founder of The Sufi Saint School, which provides affordable education to the poor and needy children of Ajmer regardless of religion.

Hyderabad

Finally, we will journey to Hyderabad. Here we will drink of high attunement and blessing at the dargah of Hazrat Sayyed Shaikh ul-Masha'ikh Muhammad Abu Hashim Madani, the murshid of Hazrat Inayat Khan, and a most wonderful living Chishti Master, Pir Rasheed ul-Hasan Jeeli ul-Kaleemi, Pir Vilayat's lifelong spiritual brother and one of Pir Zia's teachers in living Sufism.
